August 13, 2011, was the day I had waited five years for. On that day, I met my hero: Nicholas Jerry Jonas.
In May of 2011, I had bought tickets to go see Nick play at Musikfest. I lived in New York at the time, but shortly after moved to North Carolina. Muikfest was in Pennsylvania, which meant I was going to have to drive 9 and a half hours to get there. I didn’t mind though; it was for Nick.
So I was just sitting on my bed one day when Alyssa (holdingontothejonasbrothers) texted me, flipping out, because she had been on Team Jonas and had seen that they were giving away meet and greet passes for Musikfest. I can’t even begin to count the number of contests I’ve entered, and lost. Assuming this would just be like all of the rest, I entered.
So fast forward to August 9. I knew that this was the day that they were announcing the winners. I was so scared, like you have no clue. My mom wanted to go to my development’s pool, but I didn’t want to go. I knew that if they called, they would need to speak with an adult, so I figured I would have to go incase I won. Team Jonas had posted that they would announce the winners at 6:00. Well, 6 rolled around, and still no call. Soon, it was almost 7, so I decided to just walk home. I thought I hadn’t won.
So I got home a little while later, and was about to watch TV, when at 7:26, I heard my cell phone ring. I didn’t recognize the number, but I picked it up anyway. The next thing I know, someone on the other line is telling me that I won the Nick meet and greet contest. I swear, the phone had fallen to the floor, and my stomach dropped. I knew since I was home alone, that I’d have to pretend to be my mom. So I’m trying to keep my cool on the phone with this lady, when in reality, I’m hysterical crying. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so hard in my life.
So fast forward to August 13. My parents, my brother and I had driven almost 10 hours from North Carolina, to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. We got there, and there were about 100 people mobbing the backstage gates, trying to get in. After about 30 minutes of waiting, someone came out with a bullhorn and told everyone to leave unless their names were on the meet and greet list. Of course people tried to sneak in, but in total, me and about 20 other girls’ names were actually on the list. We get back stage, and I’m hyperventilating. I couldn’t believe that my dream was actually about to come true. When our group started walking to the meet and greet area, I remember my mom getting all excited, and telling me to look to my right. Let me tell you, my heart dropped. Standing, not even 10 feet from me, stood the most beautiful man I have ever seen in my entire life.
We waited on line, and it was finally my turn. Big Rob motioned for me to go over to Nick, and I started shaking. I walked up to Nick, who was smilling, and had his hand out for me to shake. He introduced himself and asked me how I was. I shook his hand, told him I was good and asked him how he was. He smilled again, said he was good, and put his arm around me for a picture. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my mom talking to Big Rob. The next thing I know, both Big Rob and my mom are walking over to Nick and I. My mom was pretty damn excited, because she ran over to Nick and asked him for a hug. He chuckled, and said sure. So then, my mom, Bog Rob, Nick and I took a picture together. Nick turned to me and said he appreciates me coming out for the show, and he hopes that I enjoy myself. I gave him a hug, wished him luck, and walked away with tears in my eyes.
Nick was so sweet, like you wouldn’t even believe. And let me tell you… Pictures do not do this man justice. He is beautiful.
So thank you Team Jonas… You made my dream come true <3
